Taurus LX
Story
The 1986 Ford Taurus LX served as the Detroit police car in the 1987 film RoboCop. The film is set in a crime-ridden, near-future Detroit.
Director Paul Verhoeven wanted to give the film a futuristic look. At the time, the brand-new first-generation Taurus was one of the most modern and aerodynamic sedans of its era, making it a perfect fit for the near-future setting. An exaggerated, custom-designed vehicle was initially planned for the police cars, but the idea was considered too extreme, so the production switched to the Taurus. For the film, the cars were painted matte black and fitted with light bars and front push bars. Ford was reportedly not very pleased about its vehicles being featured in such a violent film.
The model is from GreenLight's Hollywood Series 34.
