Starsky and Hutch / 1976 Ford Gran Torino (Crashed Version)
Ford

Gran Torino

Story

The 1976 Ford Gran Torino is Starsky's car in the series Starsky and Hutch (1975-1979). With its red body and the white stripe wrapping around the sides, it is known by the nickname "Striped Tomato."

The series follows two detectives working in Bay City, Starsky (Paul Michael Glaser) and Hutch (David Soul). But the real star of the show was often this car. The "Striped Tomato" nickname came from Glaser himself, who said the car looked like a striped tomato. The car caught on so much that in 1976 Ford released a limited replica edition (around 1,000 units) in the red-and-white stripe scheme, something rare for a television car.

The model I have is GreenLight's "Crashed" version. It depicts the car battered, after all the endless chases and crashes from the show. From GreenLight's Hollywood Special Edition (Starsky and Hutch Series 2).
